Revisit the early days of the Age of Steam as you begin with a locomotive (the venerable John Bull, the first locomotive to run in North America) and a vision (your Tycoon “mission” card). From there, build your budding railroad network into a vast empire. Connect New York to Chicago, earn the most money, develop bigger and faster locomotives and maybe even span North America and build the Transcontinental Railway!

Railroad Tycoon is the result of a Winsome Games collaboration with Glenn Drover, in which the mechanics and game-play of John Bohrer‘s Age of Steam were simplified/streamlined, and attractive, over-produced components were added in order to make Railroad Tycoon more appealing to less hardcore gamers and more accessible to a wider audience. Huge inspiration from Age of Steam was taken in the creation of this game, which is why Martin Wallace is often errantly credited with this game’s co-design. However, John Bohrer was the main design consultant on this project, mostly with regard to the Eastern US map and other, more subtle nuances; the rest of the design belongs to Glenn Drover.

This game was later reprinted as Railways of the World, without the Winsome Games logo, as is not included in the Winsome Choose Some game library. Inclusion may be arranged upon request with enough advance notice prior to the gathering. If Railways of the World or any of the auxiliary expansions for these games is/are desired, please make a request via e-mail.
